” Life moves on “

I sit near the candle without the electricity,

Nepal, the country with the 2nd natural resource,What a Pity,

12 hours in 24 , the darkness makes my work so slow,

All my chores so planned; goes for a blow !

Never seen the world so high, Mt. Everest being the sky,

The view from Sarangkot hill to Jomsom, the craft of nature for which one could go high,

From Para-hawking to sky diving, from Mountain-flight to Bunjee jump it has it all,

The thing is that one just needs a dare fall !

Visit Nepal you will find everyone near,

People are so close, the place has no fear,

A smile and a clean heart is what we have,

Peace and prosperity is what citizens crave !

I have so much to read, well, my books are in a pile,

Luckily we have Generators but backup takes a super- mile .

The roads are tattered and torn been a while,

BUT NEVERTHELESS, THIS IS  A  HEAVENLY PLACE , A WORTH-WHILE!

Once upon a time::*

One week before my exams…
Feels like running away somewhere in clouds…..
Cause the syllabus is ‘F’ vast
That these 3 months ” gone” is a past, which was pretty fast
Should have started before 6 months,
Which was the target which my heart did not listen
7,6,5,4,3,2 & 1 the days go in a blink,…
I open my eyes, and the days go in a Wink
What do I do, where do i go
Where do i Hide my sorrow………

So much is pending, so much to do!!
My mind says : What did You just do??
Oh God Please help me,
To the time that i have to see,
M scared M lost
Is there some place I could get my post<
CA is not so easy
It’s makes your life go crazy
But thats how it is,
Or else how will you get your credits??

How can i write so much,
When the books are in abundance
I think I should get back to it
The DREAM that i had when i was eight^^

“When ll the good deeds be done”

As infants in childhood;

Were raised in fun and fest.

As youngsters we grew;

It was the time to do our best.

And now that the time has come;

I think  “ When was the good deed done?”

Centuries and years ago,

I always thought I would never go.

But the day has come;

To leave my soul.

The one which can’t be measured by gold.

When was the good deed done?

Resting in peace is the soul,

Never could I reach the goal.

Sorrow and grief was what I learnt;

Joys and laughter was what I couldn’t.

But you are the one and only one,

So, begin the good deed that has to be done.

Aside

Each language is beautiful in itself::

English has become the NECESSARY language in this era. If you do not know the language you are just not fit to survive amongst your competitors. In our nation, parents put their children in an English medium school because they particularly know the importance and benefits of it. Half of us dont even remember from aa to gya whereas if you ask a person in his dream also he can speak from a to z.Why is that so?? is it something that we should be ashamed off. A week back i met my friends and we were discussing of who can speak from 1 to 100 in nepali . Majority of the crowd bow down on they could not .There is nothing to not like it, we should be proud of this generation because they know that they need the language everytime and its the basic language that people communicate in . It is a known fact that knowing the language gives you a edge over the others .Knowing the language makes a DIFFERENCE. Be it sending a message or typing a mail even if u are doing it in any other lanuguage you need to relate it to English alphabets. Our mother tongue is something we have been speaking since our childhood and we know till the level of conversing it with others. Being fluent in the language happens itself with time.

The best part is when one language is spoken smoothly and confidently without mixing different languages which happens with most of us making it HINGLISH OR NEPLISH.

ANGRY DRIVER SPEAKS::*

This is the 15th day m driving in the city and it’s driving me crazy. Crazy would be an understatement. This town doesn’t have good roads moreover it does not have Foot-paths. People are walking on the road so you can imagine how slow the cars must be moving. There is no rule that’s followed. We are so primitive; we don’t have much of traffic lights. It’s still have the hand system that’s been seen in junction on the main roads if you are lucky or else even that’s not there.

I think people here feel that crossing from anywhere and everywhere is just cool because the vehicles won’t touch them be it whatsoever. The driver has to be so conscious while driving. The roads are so narrow that at times in the small lanes 2 cars cannot pass easily. So you take a back turn till the other guy finds space to cross. If you are a new comer you are screwed like big time. Cause at times it’s just so confusing on what to do. I am changing the gear and there is a school kid is crossing the road outta nowhere .So do you slow down or honk .And we all know how much is a horn going to make a difference so to be on a safer side just be slow and let the chap pass by like a camel listening to his earphones. Dude, what was he just 8. Why do parents give electronics at such an early age, This provides no time for imagination and creativity for the child.

 There are so many potholes and this guy that I am learning from tells me :You have to escape the potholes. How am I suppose to do that?? It’s everywhere. When I try to speed up a little I have to slow down because the roads are so bad. And not to forget how the public vehicles are driven. They stop whenever they like (Should be really careful).

 I wonder how the pollution tests are carried out for vehicles here. Half of the vehicles literally emit black smoke. Something needs to be done on the traffic rules to avoid accidents and safe driving.

The obstruction and the demolition of roads is creating a chaos in the valley. It created so much of a problem for the shopkeepers who have shops besides the road (their only source of living)and the residents staying on the road side after the tearing-down of buildings.The roads if made broader will be a great help for the drivers. There will be less chances of traffic jams because of the narrower streets now. The roads have been all torn apart but no one knows when will it be normal for everyone. The pillars and the street lights which fail to work are not yet taken down. The pedestrians have no foot path to walk in, resulting in walking on the roads . There are sights seen where the narrow street is blocked by the passer by and the cars are driven slower than rickshaws. There is sand and stones everywhere and in the night when there is no light there must be cases people falling and getting hurt.

The waste is thrown on the roads and its there in every kilometer that you go by at some places. We should realize how unhygienic it is and proper cleaning should be done everyday.

 “The question is there’s no one to blame “.Each one of us should do our bit and make this heavenly place a great place to live,  I always feel bad when the citizens call it an under-developed country as we are the ones who are RESPONSIBLE and have earned it.

A cry for help::

Condolences to the families who were killed in Sunday Mountain Flight accident. As I read in the newspaper and watched the news there was one person who was alive and was hanging on the tree crying for help. He would have survived if the police wouldn’t have interrogated so much. How could they even ask on who will be responsible if the man dies mid-way. Where has the humanity gone?? Why for once could they just have a little of sympathy and just taken the guy to the nearby hospital themselves. He would have been alive today.

Just answer one question, if a person is in his critical stage; filling up the hospital formalities is more important than admitting the patient. Why so?? The old man is fighting for life and death. He does not know more but one thing that he wants to go back home to his family and see his kids play and talk to his parents. Why so much of formality?? Why so much of unnecessary discussion???

The man would have survived if those police would let the passer by just do their work. Who on earth gives this retards the badges and uniforms. They don’t deserve neither of them.We need to stand up and fight for that man who wanted to LIVE. We could just have been there, WHO KNOWS: GIVE IT A THOUGHT !!

LIFE — A FACEBOOK TALE

F.A.C.E.B.O.O.K , I was never really fond of the idea of my peers going so gaga over the social networking site , some 3 years back , but you can say on  peer pressure or a necessity I had to open an account and I entered in the world of  face-book. The whole idea of facebooking got so fascinating as everything was in one place – be it games, mailing, chat, instant messaging, sharing information quickly, getting in touch with old friends. Hats off to the Face Behind Facebook – Mark Zuckerberg who launched it on 2004. Within seven years, it was reported that the company reached the 800 million-user mark. The movie “The Social network” was a hit too.

I have nothing against the site, but too much of is like an attention seeking website. People have gotten so used to it that their lives keep revolving around the facebook page these days. Status update has become a compulsion, it’s like an everyday habit, and every smallest detail about each incident has to be shared. It’s funny to hear statements like: “How would I know about it, it was not on my news feed”. Private life has gone for a mere toss. Acquaintances and hundreds of people one meets in their journey of life need not know every thing about them. The other day I had gone to my relatives, I asked my cousin who is 6 and has an account, not to use it for 1 day. And he replies “I will do anything but you are asking something which is not possible” I laughed hard that a kid who can hardly type a sentence without grammatical mistake is saying that. The same day the domestic helper at my place asked me to create her account and when I asked her why she wants it, she said everyone keeps talking about it, I feel out of place if I don’t have one. I was so surprised as she did not even know how to operate a computer.

There are so many networking sites from Twitter to Google plus, but nothing like the phobia that FB has created. There were sites namely Orkut, Hi5 but with time it all went by. But I think the hype that Facebook has it is going to stay for a long time. It has quite a boon as it can make anything popular by overnight, and people are aware about the happenings. But when it come about getting in touch with older friends you do that once and then don’t even care about talking to them except wishing them birthdays or on special occasions. The habit of mailing sounds like a cliché these days. Face-book has become more about reading about different phases of various faces.

Each one of us have our fairytale, we need not make it facebook tale!!

BRIDGE OF LIGHT– IN THE DARK

My BFF  aka Best Friends Forever had come to visit me  this winters. I had to show her around the valley and also took her to all the tourist places from The Royal National Park – Chitwan, Lumbini , Bandipur, Pokhara to all the historic places and sight seeing  . She is a nature-freak and she loved every bit of this place. The best place she went crazy for was at the Sarangkot hilltop. ” What a mesmerizing view, I never thought i would be standing so close to the mountains. I just feel Heaven has come to earth.” – she said. Photography being her passion she had taken some amazing pictures. I fail to understand photographers when they take the same shot with every different angle possible.  She wanted to do more of  adventurous sports, but as it was freezing cold we skipped on quite a few of them.

Anyways, she also promised that  she would come to Nepal again once she retires and would spend the rest of her life. I was so amazed on hearing this. I asked her if the  load- shedding timings never bothered her. She said it was fine unless it went on for days without no lights in the capital. I was taken aback by her response and asked her in an assertive way what did she not like about this place . There had to be some thing that she did not approve of around the place as i could just see the love that she had for THE LAND OF HIMALAYAS.

So while she started talking, she pointed out quite a few of problems that  all of us are going through. The first one started with the street lights. It  gets  dark in the evening  early  as the days are shorter , and it gets so difficult for a traveller to find place and even for the commoner it gets pretty hard to walk around as the road construction is happening everywhere with holes and pitfall.  And then it went on to the electricity problem . I told her it does bother you. So she reverted back by saying , for you its fine, you can afford to get an inverter and the batteries , i am just thinking about the people who spent 10 hours in a day in candles and lantern. I wonder how they carry on their household chores and the children their studying in candle-light with no heaters in this cold.

When i gave it a thought myself , i could not visualize myself without the power- backup, Electricity is such a prime thing in our day to day life  and there are so many people who have totally been deprived of this facility !!

CHANGE – and the best way is to ADAPT

When I was in school my teacher always taught us one thing: The constant thing in Life is CHANGE and its best if you go with the flow or else you will not be happy. If you want to imply the lifestyle that you were bought up in it’s not going to work and do no good to anyone. Things have changed, changed drastically.

My little brother almost spends 6 hours of his time on the computer and the rest 2 are for watching the idiot box—oops Television. So 8 hours of his life are dedicated with enthusiasm and zeal in the virtual world. Every half an hour he sees the update if his farm had grown the seeds and is it time for him to sell. He is just 7 years  and if he is so interested in this game he should actually pursue his carrier on trading of commodities. But in the next ten minutes I realize he loves everything from the animals in the zoo on the Tap zoo game and angry birds to GTA and other online games.

And it’s highly impossible to put a time check on the kids especially on their holidays. And on his request I was ready to get him a PSP & Nintendo which my parents strongly disagreed. As I was the best sister I had to fulfill their wishes and I thought if they don’t play now, when will they play? I got it in one condition that they play some outdoor activities like we did when we were kids. If a comparision is done with this years kids and 10 years back there is so much change. They are way too smart intellectually and the way they speak and the things they talk about is beyond ones imagination at times. How much creative I can get , but I fail to understand what more is left for the upcoming toddlers to be like.

It went on for a month but again they went with their 8 hour in front of desktop. Infact the time increased day by day. I think this is a problem with each kid around. Kids have forgotten what hide and seek is, Cycling and running around is. It’s sad to see this generation grow this way and see the extinction of outdoor activities.

Theres something about this place

Foreigners in our slang kyures are always prepared for their holidays. Usually they choose their holidays to be an adventurous one. They want to or end up traveling alone. There was this guy sitting next to me when I was traveling from Mumbai to Kathmandu. He started a conversation when I was reading the best pat of the newspaper THE HOROSCOPE. Colin asked me so many questions so fast. I think it was faster than the earth revolves. When he got to know that I belong to Nepal he was more inquisitive and wanted to know more about the town, I kept talking, I guess it was a non- stop 20 mins talk on how beautiful Nepal is. In poets words SUNDER, SHANTA AND VISHAL.

I told him there’s something about this place: Futile, Insignificant, Yet it will sweep your breath away. The weather is just so pleasant.  The wind rustles the leaves in the driveway that soared in the air. The rain with hailstones is a sight to see. And the sun going down the mountains is Heavenly. One could just fall in love all over again The dimming lights in the city makes it so beautiful. The birds fly in a fleet in the clear sky in and around the trees make you want to take their place. High peaks with the highest mountain in the world Mt. Everest surrounding the valley shows the art and craft of nature which is amazing. It will just be too less to describe in words. One has to visit the place to see its beauty. I still wonder why do people leave this place and stay somewhere else. Even if the youngsters go out for there higher education which is very common they should get the potential and use it in the development of the country. In some fields there is no infrastructure, that’s true but one has to make the start and the road will lead.

The people here are full of warmth and concern that is very rare to find in today’s era. Even a stranger who passes by you or while you use the public  transport gives a smile and that look that you have known them forever. People are way adjustable. It’s just the political   instability and security that gives this magnificent place a drawback. There are loads to be done and if we come together we can and will do it easily. The city as I say has its own charm.

And now I get a mail from Colin saying: Loved my stay. There is something about Nepal and I miss it all the more when I am back in my hectic, busy life. And also my horoscope was true it said:” I will meet people from different cultures”
